New Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) has now been published

The Department of Home Affairs has today, 3 December 2024, released the new Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL), with the skilled occupations eligible for the Temporary Work (Skilled) Visa 482, as well as for the Permanent Work (Skilled) Visa 186 – Direct Entry stream.

This new list includes 456 occupations, some of which were already available under the TSS 482 visa, but many others are being introduced for the first time. This expansion brings exciting opportunities for applicants who were previously restricted to regional visa options. New occupations now available in all parts of Australia include roles such as Child Care Worker, Office Manager, Beauty Therapist, Yoga Instructor, and more.

Additionally, the updated list means these occupations will now also qualify for the Permanent Work Sponsored Visa 186 under the Direct Entry stream. Previously, this permanent pathway was limited to applicants in occupations on the Medium-term Occupation List. This change provides a significant boost for many prospective applicants looking for a direct route to permanent residency.

Stay tuned for further updates here as the Department of Home Affairs is set to release more news, including the anticipated Skills in Demand Visa (SIV), expected to be published on 7 December 2024.
